Trip Summary

This tour brings together the essential highlights of Manu Amazon with a practical itinerary, guided assistance, and enough flexibility for photos, rest, and local discovery. It is ideal for passengers who want a complete experience with clear planning before and during the trip.

DAY 1 Cusco - Cloud forest - Bambu Lodge

We leave Cusco by private bus, first stopping to visit the pre-Inca burial towers of Ninamarca. We then drive through the mountains, to reach the typical folkloric village of Paucartambo. Here we will have a short walk through the town before continuing to Tres Cruces, the highest point and the entrance to Manu National Park. From here we will continue to the Cloud Forest and in San Pedro we will walk for approx. 1 hour to observe the national bird of Peru, the cock of the rock and many different types of monkeys, plants and flowers. Finally we will arrive at Pilcopata where we will spend the night at Bambu Lodge.

After breakfast we will continue by private bus to Atalaya, on the way we will stop to observe a coconut plantation, we will also stop at a view point where you can get a good overview of the jungle and the river. From Atalaya we leave by motorized boat to hot springs, where you can bathe, from there we will continue by boat to Yanayacu Lodge. We will arrive in the afternoon. In the late afternoon we will walk in the jungle and fish in the river, then we will visit the clay lick, for a couple of hours, where we can see a tapir and other nocturnal mammals, we will return to the lodge for dinner, on the way back we will look for spiders and snakes.

After breakfast, we continue our journey downstream to the native community of Diamante and learn about their life and costumes. After the program, we go to the Boca de la Manu village to have some cold drinks, relax and then we go into the reserved area of Manu. Our first stop in Limonal, then we continue our trip by boat to Casa Machiguenga Lodge, but on the way we will appreciate many different types of animals such as capybara, peccaries, monkeys, bright birds and the adult black, white Caiman, or even a pair of Jaguars. In the afternoon we will arrive at Casa Machiguenga Lodge, which includes the same comforts while remaining rustic, cozy and intimate in its Manu Jungle setting. Managed exclusively by Machiguenga Indians, the original caretakers of the Manu Desert.

This day we will explore the jungle most of the day, on the way we will appreciate different types of animals; such as tapir, collared peccaries, monkeys, coatis; birds like eagles, parrots, toucans, medicinal plants, flowers and the giant trees of the jungle. We will have lunch in the jungle and continue our tour to visit the beautiful Salvador Lake and Otorongo, where we will travel by catamaran and enjoy seeing the wild population of the Amazon Lake such as the white caimans and the famous “Giant Otter”, we will return to Casa Machiguenga Lodge and spend the night here.

We depart after breakfast, from Casa Machiguenga Lodge to continue our adventure traveling downstream to Boca Manu. On the way, if we are lucky, we will see the famous Jaguar along the beaches, and we will stop in the community of Diamante, we will appreciate their culture and lifestyle if you are interested in handicrafts and meet the local people, you can buy handicrafts from the people of the community of Diamante, we will also visit in the afternoon a lake where we will a clay lizard tapir, towards Dorado Lodge. In the evening, we will have a bonfire, relax and have some drinks, we will spend the night here.

We will wake up early to take our motorized boat to Atalaya, where our private bus will be waiting to take us back to Cusco through the cloud forest and Paucartambo, arriving in Cusco in the evening.
