Trip Summary

This tour brings together the essential highlights of Arequipa and Colca Canyon with a practical itinerary, guided assistance, and enough flexibility for photos, rest, and local discovery. It is ideal for passengers who want a complete experience with clear planning before and during the trip.

DAY 1 Arequipa - Condor Cross - San Juan de Chucho - Oasis Sangalle

Pick up from the hotel between 3 to 3:30 am and drive to the town of Chivay, which is about 4 hours drive from Arequipa. On the way, we will stop in the town of Yanque where we will have breakfast at approx. 06:30 am. Then we will travel for 1 hour to the Cruz del Condor, which is the best place to see the Canyon and the famous Andean condor birds, we will have 40 minutes to see the flight of the condors and the depth of the canyon. Approx. at 9:30 a.m. we will arrive at the San Miguel viewpoint, and immediately we will start the hike down into the canyon for 3 hours passing from 3,300m. to 2100m. inside the canyon.

Around 12:30 pm. we will arrive at the first suspension bridge, rest and then continue our hike for 30 minutes more. We will arrive at the community of San Juan de Chucho for lunch. After lunch, we will continue our hike to visit the villages of Malata and Cosñirhua, at about 5 pm, we will arrive at the Oasis Sangalle, a quiet and charming place at an altitude of about 1900m. where we will enjoy its swimming pool, surrounded by vegetation, at the end of the day we will rest in adobe bungalows, typical of the area.

At 05:00 am. we start the ascent hike for 03 hours, this part of the hike will give you spectacular views, since you will be walking during the sunrise.

We will arrive at 8:30 a.m. to the village of Cabanaconde where we will have breakfast and visit the village. In this town we will take the bus back to the city of Chivay, we will stop at a viewpoint to see the pre-Inca terraces of the valley.

At 11:00 a.m. is the arrival to the town of Yanque, we will have time to visit the thermo-medicinal baths with water temperatures of 38°C. After lunch in Chivay, we will return to the city of Arequipa making stops at the Viewpoint of the Volcanoes 4,910 m.a.s.l. and the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve. Here is where you can take a selfie with an alpaca, or even a vicuña if you are lucky. At the end of the day, you will arrive in Arequipa between 5:00 pm. and 6:00 pm, and we will drop you off at Santa Catalina Street, next to the Santa Catalina Monastery.
