Tambopata is located in the southeastern part of Peru, in the department of Madre de Dios, within the Amazon rainforest. It is one of the most biodiverse areas in the world, home to an astonishing variety of wildlife — jaguars, giant river otters, macaws, capybaras, and hundreds of bird species. The region takes its name from the Tambopata River that flows through it.
The Tambopata National Reserve covers over 1.3 million hectares and serves as a sanctuary for conservation and ecotourism.
The Amazon Lodge Tambopata is located on the banks of the Madre de Dios River, adjacent to the Tambopata National Reserve. Most tours depart from here: Sandoval Lake, Macaw Clay Lick, hiking, caiman spotting, and more. The lodge also offers adventure circuits including a canopy walk (suspension bridge), kayaking, and piranha fishing. All tours include full meals, guided by professional guides with deep knowledge of the Amazon, plus pick-up and transfer service.
